Infertility means you’re unable to become pregnant or stay pregnant, despite having unprotected sex. Female infertility is usually diagnosed after a year of having unprotected sex doesn’t result in a pregnancy.
While infertility can occur at any age, the chance of becoming pregnant declines as women age. Women in their 30s are only about half as fertile as they are during their 20s.
Receiving infertility treatment significantly increases your chance of conceiving and having a baby.
Female infertility is most commonly treated with hormones or fertility drugs that encourage ovulation or restore unbalanced hormones.
If medical treatment is not successful, robotic surgery to correct endometriosis or open blocked fallopian tubes may be suggested.
WHASN West Valley customizes infertility treatments to the results of your testing, ultrasounds, and bloodwork.
If fertility drugs or surgery don’t work, intrauterine insemination or in vitro fertilization may be recommended.

The team at WHASN West Valley wants to help diagnose the cause of your infertility issues and help you and your partner successfully conceive and give birth.
During an infertility evaluation, the knowledgeable team conducts diagnostic tests, including ultrasound images, and determines the cause of your infertility as well as possible treatment options.
After completing your female infertility evaluation, Dr. Richards may suggest an evaluation for your partner if he suspects the cause of infertility may be related to sperm production or quality.
During intrauterine insemination, your partner’s sperm is collected and inserted into your uterus during ovulation. This increases the likelihood of conception, although the sperm must still make the journey and fertilize your egg after insertion.
During in vitro fertilization, your egg is fertilized with your partner’s sperm in a laboratory. The fertilized egg grows up to five days in the lab environment and then the embryo is inserted into your uterus.
